ESG Impact ReportThe traditional mining of PGMs, such as platinum, palladium, and rhodium, produces substantial carbon emissions, generating approximately 20,600 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of mined and refined PGMs. Regenx’s process cuts these emissions by 95%, contributing to a significant reduction in the industry’s carbon footprint.
Mining new PGMs requires vast amounts of water — about 71,440 liters per tonne of material. Our closed-loop system drastically reduces water usage, using only a fraction of the resources compared to traditional mining. This reduction helps protect precious freshwater resources and prevent harmful waste runoff into natural water systems.
PGM mining often results in toxic tailings, which are hazardous by-products that can seep into surrounding ecosystems, causing long-term environmental damage. Regenx’s process is tailings-free, meaning no harmful by-products are left behind, ensuring cleaner land and water.
By recovering up to 90% of the metals in catalytic converters, our technology keeps these valuable resources out of landfills. This reduces the volume of waste and extends the lifecycle of critical materials like platinum, palladium, and rhodium.
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond environmental metrics. Regenx is actively contributing to a circular economy by reducing the demand for newly mined PGMs and promoting the recycling of catalytic converters.
